Text Mode Features (Current Version):

3. Loading a Text File – To open a text file for playing within eClipseReader, simply Use Browse My computer in the FILE MENU (Shift+B) to browse to and open text files. By default, the program will automatically begin playing the file. eClipseReader will handle text files from the CD drive, hard drive or network. Please consult the help system for instructions on how to do so. Note that on Windows 98, eClipseReader locks the CD tray while a text file on disc is open. This means that pressing the eject button on the disc drive will not open the tray. You can eject the disc through the program by pressing Ctrl+E, or you can unlock the tray by pressing Ctrl+F4.

4. Playing a Text File – To play a text file or to pause play, press the Spacebar.

5. Navigating a Text File – All text files can be navigated by Word, Line, Paragraph or Screen. In addition, you can navigate among any bookmarks and notes that you’ve inserted. You can navigate by all these modes through the Markers menus as well as the Navigation Toolbar. eClipseReader provides two ways to navigate using the keyboard. Basic Navigation, which is explained below, uses just the four arrow keys in combination with the Ctrl key. In Advanced Navigation, all navigation functions have their own keyboard shortcuts, all of which are noted in the tooltips as well as the help system and the Hotkey List.

Basic Navigation is a simple two-step operation.

Press Ctrl+Right Arrow or Ctrl+Left Arrow to select a navigation mode. The options are Word, Line,  Paragraph, Screen and Marker.

Press Ctrl+Up Arrow to move backward by the selected navigation mode, or press Ctrl+Down Arrow to move forward.

The other navigation function that is worth learning right off the bat is Find Word. First, press Ctrl+F to open the Find Word dialog box. Then type the desired word and press Enter.

Note that like all hotkeys in eClipseReader, the keyboard shortcuts for Basic Navigation do not work if a menu or dialog box is open.
